New Delhi: In a bid to ensure welfare and overall development of vulnerable tribal groups, the ministry of Tribal Affairs has brought some changes in the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) Scheme. As per the new revision, 100 percent financial assistance will be provided to 75 tribal groups which have been identified as particularly vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs).

The scheme will be implemented in tribal pockets in various states including Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West-Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

As per the new scheme, more emphasis has been laid on housing, distribution of land, agricultural activities, animal husbandry, road linkage, and non-conventional sources of energy among others.

The scheme will be implemented on the basis of the conservation-cum-development plan of the state governments.
