Bhopal: The nationwide bandh call given by the traders organisations against the decision to permit FDI in retail sector had a wide-spread effect in Madhya Pradesh with all major markets wearing a deserted look.

The effect of the bandh could be seen in most of the cities, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, Hoshangabad, Vidisha and Sehore, where traders did not open their establishments in protest.

Madhya Pradesh Chamber of Commerce chief Kailash Chandra Agrawal told reporters that the bandh was total in the state due to which trade worth Rs 100 crore got effected. He said the Centre should immediately rollback its decision on the issue as it will affect over seven crore people directly and indirectly associated with the retail sector.
