The gravity of the situation came to the fore after the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) recently published its report. 

In 2021, while a total of 1,239 females committed suicide, 4,412 males ended their lives. 

As per NCRB report, 15 persons on average are committing suicide every day in the State.

As per the NCRB data, 2 742 people committed suicide in 2018 for being jobless and the figure rose to 2851 in 2019 and in 2020 the figure was 3548. Similarly, due to loan burden or after being bankrupted, 4970 people killed self in 2018, the toll reached 5908 in 2019 and 5213 in 2020.
