Two groups of students clashed at the varsity's Kaveri Hostel on Sunday allegedly over serving of non-vegetarian food on Ram Navami in the mess, with police saying 20 students were injured in the violence.
The mining town of Joda in Keonjhar district was put under prohibitory orders by the district administration after a group clash that broke out Monday saw many injured from both the factions.
In a joint operation by the district administration and the police, several buildings were bulldozed in the Khargone city area where the incidents took place. Nearly half-a-dozen JCB machines (bulldozers) started demolishing the illegal buildings of rioters.
‘Maryada Purushottam’ Lord Ram is revered as an ideal king, an obedient son, an affectionate brother and a role model in the truest sense. According to Hindu calendar, every year Ram Navami is celebrated on the ninth day of the Chaitra month, to commemorate the birth of Lord Ram.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was slammed by Twitterati, including Kanchan Gupta, the Senior Adviser, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, over a Delhi government-sponsored newspaper advertisement wishing Ram Navami on Sunday.
It was after a gap of two years that no restrictions were clamped on darshan by devotees this year. The devotees were earlier not allowed inside religious institutions (for the last two years) owing to the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
A communique from the Rashtrapati Bhavan also quoted him as saying: "Let us dedicate ourselves to follow the path shown by Lord Ram and resolve to build a glorious nation."
