Earlier, the two leaders attended the Quad summit along with US President Joe Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
The two leaders are in Japan for the second Quad leaders' in-person summit.
Prime Minister Modi said the Quad has gained a significant place at the world stage in a short span of time.
Besides Modi, the Quad summit will be attended by US President and PMs of Japan and Australia.
"We will also exchange views about developments in the Indo-Pacific region and global issues of mutual interest," he said.
During this visit, Modi will also hold bilateral meetings with his Japanese, and Australian counterparts, Fumio Kishida and Scott Morrison, and US President Joe Biden on the same day, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.

The joint readout said the Quad leaders discussed the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and assessed its broader implications.
The Quad has been focusing on cooperation in areas such as producing vaccines, connectivity projects, facilitating the mobility of students, and looking at promoting startups and technology collaboration.

Morrison said that Australia's Trade and Investment Minister Dan Tehan and India's Commerce and Industries Minister Piyush Goyal will be meeting in New Delhi next week.
President Biden will host Modi at the White House for their first bilateral meeting on September 24
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval will also be accompanying Modi during the visit.
It said the leaders will also exchange views on contemporary global issues such as critical and emerging technologies, connectivity and infrastructure, cyber security, maritime security, humanitarian assistance, disaster relief, climate change and education.
