The Puri Jagannath temple is all set to reopen for devotees from tomorrow (Monday) and all the preparations have reached final stages, said district Collector Samarth Verma on Sunday.
The world-famous Jagannath Temple in Puri will reopen its gates for entry of devotees from August 16. The 12th-century shrine will be reopened for the first time in more than three months of staying off the limits to the public in the wake of the second wave of Covid pandemic.
A special offering is being served to the deities of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri to help them fully recover from the fever ahead of the Rath Yatra. The herbal medicine called Dasamula Modaka is offered to the divine siblings as per the long-followed tradition.
Even as the Odisha government has announced partial unlock measures in the State after decline in cases of Covid, the Puri Jagannath Temple will remain out of bounds for the public till July 25.
The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has planned for a illumination project to enhance the beauty of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri even more. A technical team of the ASI on Tuesday toured the Srimandir and reviewed the detail arrangements for installing better light system in and around the main temple.
