The leaders of the Mahagathbandhan are tightlipped on the distribution of portfolios but sources have said that Nitish Kumar will keep the Home portfolio with himself, and the post of Assembly Speaker will go to the RJD.

Sources said Nitish Kumar accused the BJP of "horse trading" and giving some party leaders lucrative offers to make them ministers. He said that he has proof of this.

Tejashwi Yadav, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, is supposed to join the new government in Bihar.

Nitish Kumar then returned to his official residence at 1 Anne Marg along with Tejashwi Yadav, Congress state in-charge Bhakta Charan Das and other leaders of the Mahagathbandhan.

Due to large gatherings, Patna police deployed a large number of police force at those two places to control the situation.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar resigned on Tuesday. Kumar submitted his resignation letter to Governor Phagu Chauhan at Raj Bhawan. 

In the political activity in Patna, the Congress and Left parties handed over the lists of their legislators to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav.

BJP sources said they will wait till Nitish Kumar makes the first move.

The reference was to how the Lok Janshakti Party of Chirag Paswan fought elections outside the NDA, but only in the seats that the JD-U was contesting.

The statement of Chaudhary is an indication of sour relationship between JD-U and BJP in Bihar, and this could be the reason for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar maintaining distance from the BJP and skipping the Niti Aayog meeting, chaired by the Prime Minister in Delhi on Sunday.

The decision was taken after an all-party meeting in the Secretariat here on Wednesday evening. Leaders of all nine political parties represented in the Assembly were present in the meeting and gave some important suggestions to the Chief Minister.

Kishor had also announced to start 'Jan Suraj' (Good Governance) campaign in Bihar and conduct padyatra of 3000 km to connect with common people of the state.

The CM also said that it was Gandhi who had helped the country get Independence and, as such, those who disagreed with him on the issue of alcohol "cannot be called Hindustanis or Bharatiyas".

However, sources have said that the youth is mentally unstable, and the motive for his attack on the Chief Minister is yet to be ascertained yet. Patna police are investigating the background of the accused.
