Company sources confirmed the layoffs were done as part of cost-cutting measures as well as to tackle redundancies in certain roles across verticals.
The Q3 sales were affected by operational and supply challenges, Philips said in a statement.
This comes as no surprise, after a frenzy of hiring and a tight labour market over the past few years, as "executives see the distinction between having people and having people with the right skills".
