Keeping in mind the increasing job losses and closure of schools during the COVID lockdown, the Labour & ESI Department of Odisha government conducted a child labour awareness workshop in Koraput on Saturday.
The Commission noted that in 1992 India had ratified the UN Convention for Rights of Child; the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution declaring the year 2021 as the International Year for the Elimination of Child Labour, which necessitates calling for reports from all states and union territories.
The little shoulder that should carry a school bag to build a bright future for itself, the country and state is now carrying bag containing full of liquor bottles. A scene like this seems like a tight slap to the very fundamental rights of people and also questions the dozens of initiatives of the government which claims of spending crores of rupees to provide free education for all.
