Srivilliputhur (TN): A leopard cat cub, found in the nearby hills, was handed over to the the Forest Department officials here, authorities said.

Forest Department official Palani Raj said the male cat, which was found yesterday, would be handed over to Vandaloor zoo, Chennai.

He claimed that due to strict vigilance by both Forest and police officials in the area, poaching had come down "drastically," and the number of wild cats such as Golden Cat, Marble Cat and Jungle Cat and other wild animals had increased to unexpected levels.
