Jharsuguda: Jharsuguda police today arrested two persons from Brajarajnagar here in connection with the alleged torture of a minor girl from Odisha in Bhiwani area of Haryana.

The arrested two have been identified as uncle of the minor girl, Tankadhar and her neighbour, Ajay Ganjari.

On the other hand, two teams comprising police and district administrative officials of Jharsuguda on Friday night launched a rescue operation to bring back the girl.

The four-member teams which also included the family members of the girl and the officials of district child protection units left from Jharsuguda to Raipur by train from where they will head towards Bhiwani.

“We had been directed to rescue the girl. The girl’s father, uncle and other members of her family are also accompanying us. After reaching there, further course of action will be decided,” informed Jharsuguda SDPO, Sunand Moharana.

According to reports the girl who belonged to Brajarajnagar area of Jharsuguda district was allegedly sold by her uncle six months ago for Rs 2 lakh to one Sandeep of Bhiwani area.

Sandeep had forcefully married and raped her several times after keeping her in confinement. In a bid to escape from Sandeep, the girl had jumped off a building and was later admitted to a hospital in Hisar.

Based on the statement of the girl, Haryana police has arrested Sandeep and his mother and also informed its Odisha counterpart after registering a case into the matter.
