Odia Movie ‘Kokoli’ Gets Multiple Awards At Mexico International Film Festival

Bhubaneswar: The Odia movie on climate change “Kokoli, Fish Out Of Water”, directed by acclaimed documentary and short filmmaker Snehasish Das, bagged three awards in the prestigious Bacalar Mexico International Film Festival.

Kokoli, a telling love story woven around the backdrop of a rapidly changing climate received the Best Feature Film award. The lead actress Gargi Mohanty received Best Female Actress(in a lead role) award while Snehasis bagged the best director award.

Gargi, the “Krantidhara” actress donned a rustic look and portrayed the character of “Kokoli” quite skillfully which brought her the best female actress in a lead role award in Mexico.

The direct effect of climate change that has been a major concern for the fisherman community of coastal Odisha, is the theme behind this movie. Snehasis, with his flawless direction and Gargi, with her compelling acting made ‘Kokoli: Fish Out Of Water’ a must watch for cine lovers.

Snehasis, who owns production house ‘The Naked Eye Films’ has produced some critically acclaimed short films like “Hausla Na Ruthe” and “Ghar Jaana Hai”.
