Bhubaneswar: The Speaker of Odisha Legislative Assembly, Surjya Narayan Patro today directed former MLAs to vacate their government quarters.

Patro today issued an ultimatum to the former MLAs, who have over stayed their tenure, to vacate their quarters as soon as possible failing which electricity and water supply to the concerned quarters will be stopped.

According to sources, some former MLAs didn't leave their quarter even after 5 months of completion of their tenure. Their overstay has reportedly caused inconvenience for some new MLAs who couldn't get a quarter to stay.

"We have asked the leaders, who could not get elected as MLAs, to vacate the quarters which is still under their occupation. We will snap water and electricity supply soon,” said Odisha Assembly Speaker SN Patro.

On the other hand, senior ruling-BJD leader and former minister, Debashis Nayak slammed such directive and said "'such notices & cases are uncalled for; as we are in power, a phone call could have been made; we built the party under the leadership of Naveen, however, we are not being able to fit into it now."
