Bhubaneswar: A police complaint was lodged against BJD's G. Udayagiri block chairman Diptirekha Pradhan on Tuesday for allegedly misbehaving with the Block Development Officer (BDO) Mitanjali Das.

As per the complaint, Pradhan issued death threats to the BDO and threw office furniture outside the block office. Besides, the BDO alleged that Pradhan used abusive languages while speaking to her at the office.

Jayakrushna Behera, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), G.Udayagiri said, "The BDO had called up the police station yesterday and sought help citing threats to her life. When our police personnel visited the BDO office, an argument was going on between the BDO and the block chairman.”

“Later, the block chairman threw chairs and tables outside the office and abused the BDO in presence of police. We have registered a case against the block chairman while a probe is on," he added.

On the other hand, the block chairman refuted the charges claiming the BDO asked for percentage (PC) for the works carried out in the block.

"She told me I have seen how SC/ST people work. Apart from this, she said she would not carry out any development work until PC is offered to her," Pradhan alleged.

Meanwhile, the block development office staff have been staging a cease-work agitation demanding action against the block chairman.
