Jajpur: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today toured Jajpur district giving momentum to campaign for next month`s panchayat polls. Patnaik, accused of violating model poll conduct by sharing dais with candidates for posts like Sarpanch, panchayat samiti member at Tangi area of Khurda district on Sunday, addressed at least five public meetings in rural areas.

Making a whistle-stop tour of the district by helicopter, Patnaik, also ruling BJD president, addressed public meetings at Duburi, Korei, Binjharpur, Baruan and Jaraka. In his meetings he highlighted the programmes undertaken by his government for uplift of the poor and down trodden, women and students, besides developmental works in the rural areas. The government, he said, has chalked out many development and poverty alleviation programmees in rural areas from its own resources.
