Bhubaneswar: A woman employed with a third party service provider at the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar has brought serious charges of workplace harassment on a senior employee of the company.

Sources said, Swati (Name Changed) was working in the house keeping department of a third party vendor called Bird Group, which provides lounge services at various airports including BPIA under the brand name Bird Lounge.

As per her allegations, a senior official of Bird Lounge named Abinash Nanda had mentally and physically harassed her. According to Swati, she had even paid Abinash Rs 30,000 for employment, but he wasn’t renewing her pass since last December without any particular reason.

Describing her ordeal, Swati said, “Abinash’s amorous advancements were getting unbearable each passing day. He offered me Rs 1000 as an add-on to my salary for accepting his proposal. I denied and lodged a complaint with the service manager of the company, but to my surprise, he too pressured me to accept Abinash’s proposal.”

“The Manager threatened me that if I can’t get into terms with Abinash, then I’ll have to leave my job,” added Swati.

However, refuting all the allegations against him, Abinash said, “Swati thinks that I am responsible for not renewing her pass, when it’s the HR department that makes the call.”
