Bhubaneswar: If everything goes as per plan, visitors coming to Nandankanan Zoo will be able to see some new variety of animal species from a number of other countries.

During the managing committee meeting of the zoo on Friday, discussions were held on the proposed animal exchanges from other States as well as other countries including Singapore and Sri Lanka, said Nandankanan zoo director, Sashi Paul.

It is learnt that there plans to bring lion from Chhattisgarh and African Lion and some animals, including White Rhino from Singapore and Sri Lanka as well.

According to sources, a lot of key issues including maintenance of botanical garden, toy train, rope-way and construction of an overpass for the safety of visitors at the zoo were also discussed during the meeting today.

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary of the Forest and Environment department, Mona Sharma and Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife), Hari Shankar Upadhyay.
