RGB becomes first RRB with full CBS

There are five RRBs functioning in the state.

All the 81 branches of RGB located in Ganjam (71) and Gajapati (10) districts were migrated to CBS yesterday coinciding with the foundation day of the Berhampur-based bank, which turned 31.

"Our bank is the first RRB in Orissa to implement full CBS facility, much before the stipulated time directed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI)," its chairman PVSTR Seshagiri Rao.

The Centre had directed RRBs in the country to implement CBS before the end of September, 2011.

"With technical support from Andhra Bank, which is our sponsor bank, we have been able to migrate to CBS all branches including those located in remote areas in a period of two months," he said.

CBS was introduced first at the Gate Bazar branch here on December 18 last year.

The volume of business of the bank is expected to be increased following the introduction of CBS, Rao said adding it also planned to issue debit cards to its customers.

RGB would explore utilising ATMs of its sponsor bank to allow customers withdraw money from anywhere in the country, he added.
