Bhubaneswar: The online and offline admission processes for Plus II courses in the State which began today witnessed demand for Science and Commerce streams from students acorss the State. However, online admissions were affected by technical glitches in a few places including Rourkela and Sambalpur.

According to sources, students who want to apply online, can download online common application forms from www.dheodisha.in. The students wishing to apply offline, can collect forms from the respective Students Admission Management System (SAMS) centers.

The Higher Education department has opened around 577 SAMS centers across the State for smooth conduct of admissions.

The department has set June 22 deadline as the last date for submission online applications and June 23 for offline applications.

Officials added, while applying online, students must take two printouts of forms – a student copy and another college copy, and submit required fees along with photographs at their nearest SAMS centers.

The Higher Education department said first merit list cut off marks would be out on July 1, and candidates who make it to the list should take admission in between July 4 and July 8, otherwise they would be barred from admission process.

The merit list of students will be published on the website at 11 am on July 1, while the second list would be declared on July 13. Classes for Plus II first year students would begin from July 30.

There are 1,470 junior colleges in the State with student strength of 3,50,612. With an increase of seats in junior colleges by 20 per cent this academic session, one lakh seats are added to existing colleges.
