Bhubaneswar: Initiating the process to accord State Anthem status to ‘Bande Utkala Janani’, the State government today constituted a committee, headed by the Law secretary, in this regard.

The secretaries of Culture and Information & Public Relations and special secretary of Home are the other members of the newly formed committee, Culture minister Ashok Panda said.

‘Bande Utkala Jananai’ is an Odia patriotic poem penned by Kantakabi Laxmikanta Mohapatra after Odisha was accorded separate statehood on April 1, 1936.

Meanwhile, in another meeting, the State government also decided to observe March 11 as Odia Bhasha Diwas across the State, Panda added.
