Puri: Water scarcity evolve as a serious concern at the Jagannath temple here after the two wells Ganga and Jamuna in the temple kitchen were found unable to provide required amount of water for the preparation of ‘Mahaprasad’.

According Suara and Mahasuara servitors, the water level in the two wells has decreased to a great extent. The amount of water available in the wells is sufficient for the preparation of ‘bhog’ required for deities. But it will be difficult to prepare ‘Mahaprasad’ for the large number of devotees, they added.

Meanwhile, a discussion was made over the shortage of water between the servitors and temple administration, sources said.
