Bhubaneswar: Despite brilliant bowling by pacer Basant Mohanty, Odisha lost two points to Delhi on the basis of the latter’s first innings lead against the host on the fourth and final day of the Ranji Trophy match that ended in a draw at the KIIT stadium here on Monday.

Resuming their overnight score of 195 for four in their first innings, Odisha lost wickets at regular intervals and were bundled out for 217 conceding 94-run lead to the visitors. For Delhi, Pradeep Sangwan was the chief wrecker claiming 7 for 38.

In their second innings, Delhi began aggressively with openers Dhruv Shorey and Gautam Gambhir putting up 78 runs. However, the visitors lost wickets in quick succession after their departure. Barring a solid half century by Nitish Rana (52), the remaining batsmen could not stand up to the bowling of the hosts especially the quickie Basant Mohanty, who, for the first time in his career, took hat-trick by claiming the wicket of Subodh Bhati (0), Pulkit Narang (0) and Pradeep Sangwan (3).

Chasing a target of 288 runs after the visitors declared their second innings at 193 for 9, it was impossible the host to reach the target as they finished with 88 for three.

Pradeep Sangwan was adjudged as 'Man of the Match.'

Brief score: Delhi (first innings) 311 and 193 for 9 (second innings)
