Koraput/Cuttack: Tension prevailed in Kanchana village under Machkund police limits in Koraput district after the body of an eight-year-old minor girl with her throat slit was recovered by police on Saturday night.

Sources said the girl went missing all of a sudden when all her family members were watching television at her neighbour’s place. Following a frantic search, her parents found her body with throat slit inside an abandoned car in the village.

After getting information from the villagers, police reached the spot and rescued the body late last night.

Though no complaint has so far been registered either by the family of the deceased or from any other villagers, police have sent the body for autopsy and initiated an investigation.

In another gruesome incident, a man reportedly committed suicide by slitting his throat after allegedly thrashing his father to death in their house in OTM colony under Choudwar police limits in Cuttack district.

The accused was declared brought dead by doctors in Cuttack after he was admitted to the hospital.

It is being said that the accused was mentally unstable and he killed his father in a fit of rage.

As per latest reports, Chowdwar police has reached the spot along with a scientific team to probe the matter.

A few days back, Chandrashekharpur Police in Bhubaneswar had arrested a man for allegedly beating his father to death at Sahu Colony slum in Sailashree Vihar area. The alleged murder was an outcome of a verbal duel which ensued after the accused asked his father some money to buy groceries and vegetables to which the latter said no.

Amid the self-imposed Janta curfew across States and near-total shutdown in Odisha, the alleged murders have added to the tension of the already-stressed policemen.
