Baripada: Protesting against the arrest of former MP and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) Odisha unit president Sudam Marandi, the party has given a 12-hour dawn to dusk bandh call in the district on Monday.

Normal life has been disrupted in many places of the district including Baripada, Karanjia, Rairangpur and Udala. JMM activists were seen burning tyres and staging protest on roads since morning.

While all schools and business establishments in Baripada have

downed their shutters streets wore a deserted look. However, communication was seen normal at NH-18 and Nh-6.

In order to maintain law and order, security, has been beefed up in many parts of the districtwith the deployment of 20 platoons of police force.

Marandi along with his 50 supporters was arrested on last Friday for allegedly attacking houses of some BJD leaders and vandalism in town.
