Bhubaneswar: Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) president Jayadev Jena on Saturday came down heavily on Naveen Patnaik-led government alleging that it is solely responsible for the loot of rice which was meant for BPL families.
"Though for the last 10 years the UPA government has been allotting 35kg rice per month to each BPL family in Odisha, the state government has been giving only 25 kg. Who is responsible for this irregularity? They have siphoned off Rs 2700 crore through this rice scam," Jena told a rally in Anandpur of Kenojhar district.
The OPCC president added BJD supporters were getting old-age pensions instead of rightful beneficiaries.
Meanwhile, actor-turned politician Aparajita Mohanty urged people to vote for Congress party while lauding the Congress party for doing enough for the State.
"When the Congress party is working for the interest of Odisha in every possible way, others are busy in taking credits," Mohanty said at the rally.
Senior BJD leader Badri Narayan Patra ruled out any scene for other political leader to win except from his party.
"There is no chance of winning here for any other political leader. If Naveen Patnaik did not implement schemes for the State, why people are getting attracted to the party?" Patra asked.
