Koraput: The Additional District & Sessions court, which convicted Maoist leader Chenda Bhusanam alias Ghasi on Monday, awarded him 10 years imprisonment today.
Hearing three cases pending against him including possession of illegal arms, the court pronounced the punishment today.
Koraput police had arrested Ghasi in April 2011 near Pendajam under Semiliguda police limits. He was the commander of Andhra Odisha border special zonal committee of the CPI (Maoist) and was carrying a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head.
The naxal leader, considered one of the dreaded ultras, allegedly used to extort money from local traders, contractors, corporate houses and politicians.
