Cuttack: A traffic police constable landed in soup today after a video showing him seeking bribe from a person went viral on social media.

The viral video showed the traffic constable asking for Rs 1,000 from a person for not wearing seat belts while driving his car. The video reveals that the violator is able to negotiate and strike a deal at Rs 300. Being able to capture the entire episode on his mobile phone camera, the violator later posted the video on social media.

As the visuals went viral, the Police Commissionerate today suspended the constable after an investigation. As per information, the accused has been identified as an official of Commissionerate Police in Cuttack.

Sources said in spite of stringent orders to wear body cameras to identify traffic violators, the traffic constable had switched off his equipment to prevent himself getting caught.
