Bhubaneswar: Tigress Megha was injured after she reportedly jumped the enclosure and picked up a fight with another female tigress Bijaya and her two cubs- Sahil and Adyasha inside Nandankanan zoo on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

Megha, who was inside enclosure no 31-A, is suspected to have eventually climbed a 15-foot fence to enter a nearby enclosure where she picked up a fight with Bijaya and her cubs.

“Whether Megha climbed up the grill to enter the nearby enclosure is being investigated. However, she has sustained minor injuries near her mouth and is now being treated by a team of doctors,” said Nandankanan’s Deputy director, Jayant Dash.

Besides Megha, cub Sahil has also sustained minor injury and is being treated by zoo vets.

The cubs shall be displayed as usual in their respective enclosure while Megha has been kept under observation and will be displayed after a repair and strengthening of the old fence.
