Punjilal to be taken for crime reconstruction

Bolangir: The Crime Branch is likely to take Punjilal Meher- main accused in the Patnagarh wedding gift blast case, to different crime scenes for reconstruction of the entire sequence of events.

The investigating team will cross check if the statements that he made during the interrogation, match with what took place on the spot.

Punjilal will be reportedly taken to the Jyoti Vikash Junior College at Bhainsa, where he will enact how he left for Raipur after attending a class on February 18.

From the college, he will be first taken to Kantabanji and then to Raipur. The CB sleuths will follow the same routes that Punjilal took while executing the crime. He will be taken to all the three courier offices, including the DTDC courier and Skyking courier in Raipur. The entire investigation will be video-graphed.

Meanwhile, another team of the CB is carrying out investigations in Raipur to track an auto-rickshaw driver and a cycle-rickshaw puller who ferried Punjilal to the courier agencies to dispatch the parcel.

Crime branch SIT head Anil Kumar Das on Thursday said that the investigating team has been successful in digging up vital facts during the first phase of remand. Punjilal will be presented before the court on May 7.

The Patnagarh Sub Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) on Wednesday allowed the CB to take Punjilal on another five-day remand after his previous six-day remand came to an end on Tuesday.
