Puri: After nearly ten days of unrest and protests over largescale violence  following a clash between Baghamunda and Sipakuda villages in Brahmagiri, police on Sunday arrested 12 persons in this connection and produced them before court.

According to sources, Brahmagiri police today raided Sipakuda village and nabbed 12 persons for orchestrating the violence.

On March 20, tension erupted between both the villages over construction of a jetty on a patch of government land in Kianasi which later intensified into a bloody group clash.  30 persons were injured while dozens of boats damaged in series of bombing incidents.

Fearing arrest,  most of the male members of Sipakuda had gone hiding while police had launched a manhunt to trace the mischief mongers.

As locals had been staging road blockade at Khandual chhak, tourists were left disheartened as they had to cancel trip after failing to visit Chilika from Puri side due to the ongoing agitations.
