Bhubaneswar: Under the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network System project of the State government, the Commissionerate Police is going to install CCTV cameras at sensitive points of of the Capital city. Two cameras have been installed on a trial basis and the pictures captured by the cameras are being examined by senior cops in the police control room. The cops are checking the quality of the visuals in different weather conditions.

In the first phase, the cameras would be installed near the State Secretariat, State Assembly, Rabindra Mandap, Reserve Bank of India, Lower PMG, Master Canteen Square, AG Square, Raj Bhavan Square, Kalpana Square, Rajmahal Square, Airport Square and Units-I and II Market Building areas while the Commissionerate Police has targeted to widen its range to National Highways passing through the city.

For the transmission and monitoring of footage of the CCTV cameras, a state-of-the-art monitoring centre would be set up at the Police Commissionerate building for surveillance of the footage round-the-clock, sources said.
