New Delhi/Cuttack: The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the transfer of a petition filed by actor-turned BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty at the Patiala House Court In New Delhi seeking a divorce from his actress wife Varsha Priyadarshini to the family court in Cuttack.

Anubhav had filed the divorce petition at the Patiala House Court on July 6, 2020.

Varsha's lawyer, Krishan Kumar said today "The Apex court heard the prayers of Varsha seeking transfer of the divorce petition from the Patiala House court to Cuttack family court and agreed for the same."

On September 19 last year, Varsha had moved the Apex court seeking transfer of the divorce petition filed by her husband to Cuttack court on the grounds that it was difficult for her to travel to the Delhi court multiple times to attend the hearings.

Later on October 16, the SC had stayed the proceedings on the divorce suit filed by the Parliamentarian at the Patiala House Court and referred the matter to SC Mediation Center while serving notices to both the parties to initiate mutual discussion into the matter.

Varsha later moved the Odisha State Commission for Women over her ongoing marital discord following which the parliamentarian was summoned by the commission (OSCW) along with his parents. However, only Anubhav appeared before the OSCW on 29 December, 2020.

On August 7, Varsha had filed a domestic violence case at the Cuttack Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate (SJDM) court accusing the BJD MP of torturing her physically and mentally.
