Cuttack: Ollywood actress and wife of BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty- Varsha Priyadarshini, has moved the Supreme Court urging transfer of the divorce petition filed by her husband at Delhi's Patiala House court to a family court in Cuttack, Odisha. The MP on the other hand filed a caveat in the Apex Court requesting to hear his side before passing any order.
Varsha’s counsel Ram Krushna Rath had informed that she cannot afford to travel to Delhi to attend the case hearings which is why the actress is seeking transfer of the divorce case from Patiala Court to Cuttack’s family court.
While the actor-turned-MP had already filed a divorce petition against wife Varsha in July this year for allegedly being denied conjugal rights, the marital discord between the couple became more prominent when a local court in Cuttack listed Varsha's petition of domestic violence against Anubhav for September 7. However, the hearing was reportedly deferred to October 12 by the SDJM Court as the district protection officer (DPO) had not submitted Domestic Incident Report (DIR) in connection with the case.
Notably in her eight-page petition, the actress had levelled allegations against Anubhav claiming that he is a ‘professional drunkard’ and used to come home late at night and physically abuse her. She had also alleged Anubhav of being in extra-marital affairs with many women from the Odia cine industry.
Refuting the allegations, the BJD MP in a press statement said that both of them have not been in good terms since a long time despite his attempts to come to a mutual understanding with his wife but 'unfortunately things did not shape up'. Finding no alternative, Anubhav filed a divorce petition in July this year.
In a release, the actor stated, "I have loved Varsha deeply and married her. I deeply respect Varsha for the successful woman she is. My marriage has been in bad shape since long. I have tried my level best to reason, to explain, to understand, and to make amends; unfortunately, things did not shape up as expected."
"Hence, it seemed the best way to part ways amicably. I and my family sincerely tried our best for a mutual separation just because we were concerned about each other's social image and dignity," said Anubhav in his statement.

Anubhav and Varsha had tied the nuptial knot in February 2014.
