Cuttack: Acting on the domestic violence and dowry torture complaint lodged by Varsha Priyadarshini, the Purighat police on Sunday registered a case against the Ollywood actress’ husband and BJD MP Anubhav Mohanty.

As per reports, a case has been lodged under section 498 (A), 506 and 341of IPC against Mohanty and his two associates.

Varsha Priyadarshini had filed a domestic violence case at the Cuttack Sub-divisional Judicial Magistrate (SJDM) court on August 7 accusing the BJD MP of torturing her physically and mentally.

Prior to Varsha’s case, Anubhav had filed a divorce petition at the Patiala House Court in Delhi on July 6. Later on September 19, Varsha had moved the Supreme Court seeking transfer of the divorce petition to the Family Court in Cuttack.

On the other hand, Mohanty on Saturday wrote to Odisha DGP Abhay over a viral audio clip and urged for an investigation while seeking police protection.

In his letter to the DGP, Mohanty said that the audio clip, which went viral last month, seems to be a telephonic conversation amongst him, his wife and Varsha's two sisters was extremely abusive and hateful.

He further said that if the voices in the viral audio clip are found to be authentic, he and his family members must be given police protection.

The MP’s move came a day after his wife and actress Varsha Priyadarshini filed a fresh complaint with the Purighat police alleging that attempts are being made to defame her by making some videos viral.
