Sundergarh: After the arrest of a fake doctor posted at Nuagaon Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Sundergarh district, another person with fake documents found running a pathology lab-cum-medicine store and attending patients at Bandhabahal in the district.

As per reports, Chakranta Behera has been operating a pathology lab-cum-medicine store for the last five years. Behera holds fake certificates which include MBBS degree from the Alternative Medical Council in Kolkata and Diploma certificate from the Institute of Health and Hygiene Laboratory Technology in Delhi. The institutes from which Behera has obtained the certificates are neither recognised by Indian Medical Council or the Odisha government.

"The lab is not registered. I had approached the concerned authorities for registration but the officials denied stating that the certificates I have obtained from the institutes are not eligible," said Behera.

Apart from conducting pathology tests, Behera attends patients. Behind the medicine store, he reportedly operates a clinic which equips blood testing machine along with other equipment as well as bed for patients.

"I haven't yet received any complaint regarding the matter. There is a government hospital in the said area with qualified doctors, nurses and other staff. People of that area are dependent on the hospital for healthcare services," said Saroj Kumar Mishra, CDMO, Sundergarh.

He further said that he will visit the spot and take stringent action if finds any violation of health norms and clinical establishment set by the government.

“We can't take immediate action on the person as we have not received any complaint against him,” Mishra added.

Apart from a clinic in Sundergarh, Behera also owns another clinic in Chhattisgarh where he reportedly visits once in a week.
