There have been numerous con artists in history who pulled off outrageous scams like creating fake billion-dollar companies and selling monuments like the Taj Mahal. However, a newlywed couple has carried out the con of the century and is gaining prominence worldwide.
The newly-married couple has pulled the ultimate dine-and-dash at an exclusive seafood restaurant in Italy. The young couple, Moreno Priorietti and Andrae Svenja, with their party of 80 wedding guests, pulled a convenient dine-and-dash on the day they tied the knot.
The couple had a lavish wedding in the seafood restaurant with high-quality food alongside the music, flowers and even the decorations for the night. Once the wedding was done and dusted, the couple slyly fled with all the guests after the wedding without paying a single penny.
Later it was found out that the couple was not only out of Italy, but had altogether moved to another country. They had reportedly fled to Germany after the lavish wedding in Italy, reports said.
The restaurant owner tried to call them and contact their parents, but in vain. When he got no replies, he filed an official complaint on the grounds of fraud.
The restaurant owner declared, “I will not give them peace until they have paid every penny. I’ve been a restaurateur for 40 years and I’ve never had this happen to me.”
Once the police were involved, the couple became the most wanted bride and groom in Germany. They have been subsequently hunted down by the German and Italian cops, reports said.
However, the groom claimed that he had paid 3287 euros as an initial deposit and later paid back the remaining amount of 8073 euros.
