Bhubaneswar: At least three persons, including a father-son duo, were arrested on charge of killing a spotted deer at Chandaka-Dampada sanctuary, on the outskirts of the state capital on Wednesday.

"We have seized about 25 kg deer meat, horn and the sharp weapon used in killing the animal and arrested three persons in this connection," divisional forest officer A K Patnaik said.

Two others allegedly involved in killing the deer are likely to be arrested, he said.

They were arrested under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, Patnaik said.

The arrested persons confessed to have been selling the deer meat at the state capital.
