Rourkela: Three persons were arrested for illegally transporting scrap metal and two vehicles with about 19 quintals of scraps were seized during a raid in Vedavyas area of the steel city, police said today.

A van and a car carrying illegal metal scraps worth about Rs 40,000 were seized and the three - Siba Kumar Jaiswal, Ranjit Sahu and Kailash Sahu - arrested along with the scraps on Thursday night, they said. All three were produced before a local court which remanded them to jail custody.
