After a long-awaited period, Nearby Share has finally been launched.

While this feature was already available for Android-to-Android sharing, it was not yet accessible on Windows devices.

Earlier this year, the Nearby Share feature was introduced in its beta version for Windows, and now it is fully available to all Windows users.

Ronald Ho, the group product manager for Android, shared the news in a blog post, highlighting that this official launch brings about improved performance and new functionalities.

The initial beta release of the app took place in March 2023, and since then, Android has continuously worked to enhance the overall speed and reliability of Nearby Share.

As a result, it has now become a more robust and reliable file-sharing tool.

Notably, Google has incorporated two new features in this release.

Firstly, users will now be able to view the estimated time for file transfers to be completed.

Secondly, a useful image preview is now included within device notifications, which enables users to confirm that the correct file is being shared before completing the transfer.

According to Ronald Ho, the popularity of Nearby Share is evident, with more than 1.7 million people having installed the app since its launch.

Overall, Nearby Share has evolved into a powerful and user-friendly tool for seamless file sharing between devices, bridging the gap between Android and Windows platforms.
