Rohit Sharma reveals his favorite ground and it is not Eden Gardens 

Wankhede Stadium, situated in the commercial capital of India, holds a special place in the heart of every cricket fan in India, as it is particularly significant for captain Rohit Sharma. 

This iconic stadium in Mumbai has witnessed many remarkable feats in Rohit Sharma’s cricketing career. From his initial playing days to becoming one of modern day greats of the game, Wankhede Stadium has played a crucial role in shaping Rohit Sharma’s cricketing career. 

Be it scoring his second test century or crucial knocks of the Mumbai Indians, fans just love Rohit Sharma’s attitude and demeanor as captain and as a player. 

Till now, he regrets not being part of India’s team which lifted the World Cup 2011. 

While asked about his favorite ground, the India skipper said Wankhede Stadium. He attributes his growth as a cricketer to the learning and experiences he has had at this iconic stadium in Mumbai. The good thing about the stadium is how it is loved by its fans (Mumbaikars), as the excitement and buzz during the games are unparallel.  

"Wankhede! Such a special venue, My best venue! What I am today as a cricketer is because of the learnings that I have had, and that has all happened at Wankhede. So nothing can beat that. Mumbaikars love their cricket, and you can see the buzz at Wankhede stadium; it is crazy. It has got those little zones in the stadium, especially the North stand, which is, you know, the most famous stand at Wankhede. The crowd there, the people who come, they are true cricket fans," Rohit said in a video shared by ICC.

In the ongoing ICC World Cup 2023, Rohit Sharma has been in outstanding form and guided India to six consecutive wins. In the six games, he has accumulated 398 runs with an outstanding average of 66. 

India will take on Sri Lanka at Wankhede Stadium 13 years after the Men in Blue defeated them in the final of the ICC World Cup 2011.
