Rohit Sharma returns! Big twist for Mumbai Indians as Hardik Pandya doubtful for IPL 2024

Mumbai Indians (MI) has been facing the wrath of fans for replacing Hitman Rohit Sharma with Hardik Pandya as the new captain of the IPL franchise. Rohit Sharma fans slammed Mumbai Indians (MI) for ‘betraying’ their favourite cricketer who has led MI to five IPL titles.

Fans were so upset that the popular franchise lost a significant number of followers on social media. While it is not confirmed if Rohit himself decided to step down or the franchise decided to replace him, the consequences of naming Hardik as the new captain are clearly visible.

In another major blow to MI, Hardik Pandya is likely to be ruled out of IPL 2024, because of an ankle injury. Pandya who is likely to miss the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan in January, is also doubtful for IPL 2024.

His ankle injury might not recover in time to lead MI in the 17th season of IPL, reports said. If the reports are true, it will be a big blow to Mumbai Indians.

Notably, Pandya has been out of action since he injured his ankle during the World Cup match against Bangladesh in Pune. He was replaced by Mohammed Shami in the World Cup who turned out to be a blessing for Team India.
