Delhi Capitals (DC) captain Rishabh Pant has reportedly been fined Rs 12 lakh for IPL code of conduct breach. The DC skipper was fined for maintaining a slow over-rate during his side’s match against CSK at Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

The Delhi Capitals had a blistering win by 20 runs. The highlight of the match was Pant’s return-to-form knock of 51 in 32 balls.

“Rishabh Pant, the Delhi Capitals captain, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam on March 31,” a statement by IPL read.

The statement further added, “As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to the minimum over rate offences, Pant was fined Rs 12 lakhs.”

The wicketkeeper-batsman, who recently recovered from a tragic car crash in his hometown Dehradun, won the toss and opted to first. DC started well with David Warner’s terrific 52 off just 35 balls and Prithvi Shaw’s 43 in 27 balls. Following their dismissal, Pant also scored a thunderous 51 in 32 balls with four boundaries and three sixes taking the total score to 191/5 in 20 overs.

In the run-chase, CSK failed to live up to the expectations as DC bowlers Khaleel Ahmed and Mukesh Kumar troubled the Ruturaj Gaikwad Army. Despite useful knocks by Ajinkya Rahane and MS Dhoni, DC secured a comfortable 20-run win, restricting the five-time champions to 171/6 in 20 overs.
