Odisha to host Ist customize colour ball tennis tournament from June 23

In another boost to the sporting activities in the Sports Capital of the country, IIG Sports Academy under the banner of Odisha Tennis Association will organise the Customize Colour Ball Tennis Tournament at KT Global School Campus in Bhubaneswar from June 23-26.

This tournament is the first of its kind in the State. The competition is a unisex event were both boys and girls will play in the same draw. The tournament will be played with customised tennis balls and customised court size as per the level of the players’ games. The event has three categories-- U 10, U 12 and U 14.

The red ball, orange ball and green dot balls have a 25 per cent, 50 per cent and 75 per cent bounce respectively as compared to regular tennis ball. Even the court size is customised based on the level of the balls.

“The purpose of the tournament is to encourage the beginner and advanced beginner level talents to compete with equal level opponents and have equal opportunities. This will encourage the tennis players to develop their learning from grassroots level,” said  IIG Sports Academy Director Chinmay  Pradhan.
