In a surprising news ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, veteran wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni has stepped down as the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain handing the duties over to promising batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Responding to the development, former RCB and Team India captain Virat Kohli penned an emotional note for Dhoni after the news came in that he is no longer leading CSK which he led to five IPL titles.

“Legendary captaincy tenure in yellow skip. A chapter fans will never forget. Respect always @msdhoni,” wrote Kohli on X (earlier known as Twitter).

Notably, the news has stunned the internet. Understandably fans have accepted it slowly penning emotional notes for the legendary former captain. Some of the fans even labelled this season as ‘End Of An Era’ on social media as it is the first time neither Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are leading a single team.
