Several batters have impressed fans with their brilliant batting during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. Among some of them are Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rinku Singh and Suryakumar Yadav.
Former India swashbuckling opener Virender Sehwag has picked his choice of top five batters in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League. However, Sehwag snubbed both Gill and Kohli though they are in the list of top three run getters. Instead, the former Indian opener has picked two uncapped cricketers in the top five batsman’s list.
“I have not picked many openers in my top five list as they get plenty of chances. The first batter that comes to my mind is Rinku Singh. He hit five sixes to win his team a match which doesn’t often happen. Only Riku Singh has done it. The second best batsman in my list is Shivam Dube. The middle order batsman has hit a total of 33 sixes and his strike rate is 160. The last season didn’t go well for him. But in this season, he came with a clear-cut mindset that he has to come and hit sixes,” said Sehwag in an interview.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal is third in my list. Though he is an opener, I have picked him in my top five list because of his incredible batting. Then comes Suryakumar Yadav. He was going through a bad patch in international cricket. His form was not good during the initial part of IPL. However, he came back strongly and became a nightmare for the bowlers with his 360 degree batting once again. Middle order batsman Heinrich Klaasen is fifth in the list. His ability to hit against both space and spin is brilliant as a foreign player,” Sehwag added.
