With six victories from as many matches, India are currently occupying the second spot in the points table of the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup with 12 points in the kitty. They require one more win from three matches to seal the semi-final spot.

On the other hand, India’s arch-rivals Pakistan are lagging at the fifth spot with six points. They have so far won only three of their seven matches. They had suffered a humiliating loss against India in a high-voltage league stage match.

Though, Pakistan’s place in the knock-out stage of the mega event seems to be a distant dream, it is still possible. Even, there is a probability that the Green Army may lock horns with their arch-rivals India in the semifinals at the Eden Gardens.

Former England captain Michael Vaughan has predicted an India vs Pakistan semifinal after South Africa thrashed New Zealands by a huge margin of 190 runs in their last league match of the mega event. The humiliating defeat of the Kiwis have kept the Green Army very much in the hunt for a spot in the knock-out phase.

After suffering defeat against India, Australia, Afghanistan and South Africa, Pakistan have bounced back with a resounding victory against Bangladesh. Apart from winning all their matches with better run rate, Pakistan will also expect that the Black Caps will lose all their remaining matches to bolster their chances of entering the semifinals.
