Asian Para Games: Odisha star Pramod Bhagat secures bronze in mixed doubles badminton

The Indian pair bowed out in the semi-finals of the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 event to be satisfied with the bronze medal.

Odisha star para-shuttler Pramod Bhagat and his partner Manisha Ramdass secured bronze medal in the para-badminton mixed doubles event of the ongoing 4th Asian Para Games in Hangzhou on Wednesday.

The Indian pair bowed out in the semi-finals of the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 event to be satisfied with the bronze medal. Indonesia’s Leani Ratri and Hikmat Ramdani sealed their place in the final with a 2-0 victory over the Indian duo.

The first set was a closely fought affair but the Indonesian pair clinched a comfortable victory with a scoreline of 21-14 to storm into the final.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Pramod and his partner for their success.

“Congratulations to the dynamic duo of @PramodBhagat83 and Manisha Ramadass for securing the Bronze Medal in the Badminton Mixed Doubles SL3-SU5 event at the Asian Para Games. India celebrates this remarkable achievement with pride beyond measure!” wrote Modi on X (earlier known as Twitter).

On the other hand, the Indian pair of Nitesh Kumar and Thulasimathi Murugesan also crashed out in the semi-finals of the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 semi-finals.

As many as seven para-athletes from Odisha are representing India in the mega event.
