Amid Rohit Sharma-Hardik Pandya captaincy controversy, Chahal shows his love for Hitman

Millions of cricket lovers across the world were left shocked after Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of Mumbai Indians. The Hitman, known for playing selfless games for the team, recently guided the ‘Men in Blue’ till the Finals and won 10 consecutive matches in the 2023 World Cup.

Going by the seniority and experience, Rohit Sharma who has won 5 IPL trophies for Mumbai Indians, should have been the ideal choice for captain. However, MI decided to replace the experienced batsman with Pandya which hasn’t gone well with cricket lovers.

Even several cricket players like Jasprit Bumrah, Suryakumar Yadav, and many others indirectly expressed their displeasure over the development. Now, India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has also shown his admiration for Rohit.

Chahal known for always speaking his mind changed his X profile as a tribute to Rohit Sharma. In the profile picture, Chahal and Rohit Sharma can be seen hugging each other in the Indian jersey. However, he did not write anything in the caption.

Mumbai Indians (MI) has been receiving a lot of backlash for their decision after they announced the change in leadership a few days ago. However, MI has stated that the replacement was done with the future in the eyes.

“Renowned all-rounder Hardik Pandya is all set to take the helm as the captain of the Mumbai Indians, succeeding its longest-serving, one of the most successful and loved captains, the illustrious Rohit Sharma,” MI announced in a press release.
