Yavatmal: A tiger, which was found dead in Tipeshwar Wildlife Sanctuary in the district, was a victim of poaching, a Forest Department official said today. The big cat, aged three to four years, was found dead under Patan Bori Forest Range of the sanctuary here in Eastern Maharashtra on November 20.

The tiger was killed by poachers, Assistant Conservator of Forest Harishchandra Kamble said. A case has been registered against unknown persons under relevant sections of the Wildlife Protection Act, he said, adding no arrest has been made. Earlier, officials had suspected that it was trapped in the fencing and suffocated to death.
