'Sunday Ho Ya Monday, Roz Khao Ande' (Be it Sunday or Monday, eat eggs every day). We all are aware of this catchline. The words lay emphasis on including eggs in one’s diet. And when the World Egg Day comes, it reminds us of the nutritional value of eggs.

The World Egg Day is celebrated on the second Friday of October month every year. And the day is being celebrated across the globe today. It is celebrated to create awareness among the people about the advantages of eating eggs. 

According to experts, the nutrients in eggs are essential to keep our bones, muscles and eyes healthy.  It also helps develop children’s brains. This is why, all from children to elders are asked to include eggs in their daily diets. 

“Egg is the nature’s best thing that the God has given us. It is a superfood. Besides protein, it contains Amino Acid which is good for bones,” informed dietician Yasmin Habib. 

It is worth mentioning here that the production of eggs has increased in Odisha as well as in India. While the national-level increase in egg production is 6.19 percent, the state-level growth stands at 26.99 percent. 

Describing the benefits of eating eggs, another dietician Guru Prasad Nahak said, “The percentage of anti-biotics in country chicken’s eggs and meat is very less or next to nothing. So it is always advisable to consume eggs and meat of country chicken.”
